Ex-West Ham striker, Victor Obinna, has arrived in Cyprus for contract talks with three-time league champions, Olympiakos Nicosia.
The Nigeria international landed in the island nation on Wednesday night and was welcomed to Nicosia by his Cypriot intermediary, Tekin Birinci, who used to look after ex-Newcastle United striker, Obafemi Martins.
Obinna has been inactive for approximately two years; so Olympiakos Nicosia are planning to monitor his fitness in training before sealing a deal with the player as from next week.
1stnewsonline.com gathered that Obinna will hold talks with Olympiakos Nicosia coach in the coming hours and he’s scheduled to train with the team on Saturday, July 25.
The 33-year-old has very good curriculum vitae, with appearances in the Italian Serie A, Premier League, German Bundesliga and Spanish La Liga, and played at the 2010 World Cup.
Meanwhile, English Premier League newcomers, Leeds United, have joined the race to sign Nigeria national-teamer, Emmanuel Dennis, this summer, according to reports.
The Whites are working on a deal to sign the Club Brugge winger, but the First Division A champions have to reduce their asking price in the region of 20 million euros (N11.4 billion).
Other teams interested in the Nigerian star, including Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United, have refused to pay the fee quoted by Club Brugge.
Dennis has made it clear he wants to leave Club Brugge before the close of the transfer window and didn’t take part in their latest friendly against Deinze on Wednesday.
Leeds United are searching for attacking talent to bolster their squad after they sealed promotion to the Premier League.
Dennis had nine goals to go with two assists in his third season in Belgium, and can play as a right winger, left winger and center forward.
