Tyson Fury to face Usyk in high-stakes heavyweight showdown

British professional boxer and WBC heavyweight Champion, Tyson Fury is set to take on Oleksandr Usyk in an undisputed world heavyweight title fight.

Fury, who has previously held the World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight title since 2020, also held the unified (b) heavyweight titles from 2015 to 2016, and the Ring magazine title twice between 2015 and 2022, the International Boxing Organization IBO title during his first reign as champion.

At regional level, he has held multiple heavyweight championships, including the British title twice between 2011 and 2015; the European title from 2014 to 2015; and the Commonwealth title from 2011 to 2012.

He will hit the boxing ring against his opponent, a Ukrainian heavyweight boxer, Oleksandr Usyk, who also held multiple world championships in two weight classes, including the unified (a) heavyweight titles since 2021, and the Ring magazine title since 2022.

He also held the International Boxing Organization (IBO) title since 2021. Previously, he held the undisputed[b] cruiserweight championship from 2018 to 2019, being the first boxer in that division to hold all four major world titles.

35 year old Fury has also fought in two different trilogies, beaten Derek Chisora all three fights with 2 KOs and a unanimous decision and is 2-0- 1 with 2 KOs against Deontay Wilder with a split draw in the first fight.

He is undefeated in 35 fights with one draw, while Usyk has 21 wins from 21 bouts.

The fight is expected to take place in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, May 18, 2024.
