Tragic End: How ex-Konga CEO Nick Imudia ended own life

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Nick Imudia, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Konga, one of Nigeria’s e-commerce giants, has died by suicide.

Imudia, who was serving as the CEO of D.light, a leading company in residential solar energy solutions, ended his life on the night of Tuesday, June 25, by jumping from the balcony of his apartment in Lekki, Lagos.

Before taking this tragic step, Imudia made a series of emotional calls. He reached out to his brother in the United States, providing detailed instructions on how to distribute his wealth in the event of his death.

In a poignant call to his young daughter from a previous relationship, he assured her that he would always be watching over her and that she could find comfort by looking at the sky.

The news has left friends, family, and associates in shock and disbelief. Despite his successful career and seemingly fulfilling personal life, those close to him are at a loss to understand the reasons behind his decision to end his life.

Imudia hailed from the Ika South local government area of Delta State.

Imudia’s personal life had seen its share of ups and downs. His first marriage to the mother of his daughter, who also hailed from his local government area, ended due to irreconcilable differences. He later found love again and married a Caucasian woman, leading many to believe he had found personal happiness.

Before his tenure at Konga, Imudia held significant roles at TCL/Alcatel as a regional director and at Microsoft Device and Services as the General Manager/Managing Director for West and Central Africa.

His professional journey was marked by success and leadership, making his sudden death all the more incomprehensible.

As the investigation into his death continues, the tech community and all who knew him are mourning the loss of a visionary leader and a beloved individual.
