Publisher urges media to hold leaders accountable

In a call to action, Mr. Jimmy Enyeh, publisher of National Waves, urged the media to steadfastly hold leaders accountable for their promises to the electorate.

Speaking at an event in Abuja commemorating the 16th anniversary of the newspaper and magazine, Enyeh emphasized the critical role of the media as the Fourth Estate in upholding democracy and ensuring transparency in governance.

Highlighting the challenges faced by journalists, Enyeh underscored the importance of unwavering commitment to journalistic integrity despite instances of harassment and intimidation.

He asserted that betraying the public’s right to accurate information would be a sacrilege, urging journalists to expose and scrutinize the excesses of political leaders.

Enyeh emphasized the media’s duty to compel leaders to uphold the social contract and respect the will of the electorate.
