Arsenal have reached an agreement on personal terms with Riccardo Calafiori, securing the talented left-back on a contract valid until June 2029.
The 21-year-old Italian defender, currently with Bologna, is set to become the latest addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad, pending the finalization of transfer negotiations between the two clubs.
Discussions between Arsenal and Bologna are ongoing, with Bologna’s valuation of Calafiori set at around €50 million.
The Gunners are keen to add the promising youngster to their ranks, and both clubs are working to agree on a mutually beneficial fee.
A crucial aspect of this deal involves FC Basel, Calafiori’s former club, which stands to gain a significant financial boost from the transfer.
Basel would receive 50% of the sale amount exceeding €4.5 million, making them attentive to the ongoing negotiations. Despite the progress in talks, no agreement has been sealed yet.
