Chef Hilda Bassey Effiong, better known by her stage name, Hilda Baci, has been threatened with legal action by the management of an Abuja restaurant called Vibe By Ann’s, for allegedly breaching a written contract.
According to reports, Baci and the restaurant have a deal for her to meet and greet her followers.
An Internet viral flyer claims that Baci demanded N25,000 for private meet-ups, live cooking, and cuisine tasting on June 24, 2023, at Vibe by Ann’s restaurant in Abuja.
In response to the flyer, the world-record cook canceled the “meet and greet” event and made it clear that she had never requested anyone pay such a high sum of money in a post on her social media page on the 9th june, 2023.
“Hi everyone. This is to inform everyone that I’m not doing any meet and greet in Abuja. I would also never ask anyone to pay for such.” she said.
The restaurant’s management issued a statement in response to her denial that the event would take place on June 24, 2023, saying: “We regret to inform you that the highly anticipated event has been cancelled. For whatever inconvenience this may have caused you, dear consumers, we sincerely apologise.
“Arrangements for this event were already concluded, as both parties agreed to put out publications for the event after an advance payment was made to Miss Hilda Bassey,” the management noted on the receipt for the N3m paid to Baci.
“Unfortunately, Hilda Bassey suddenly denied publicly having any prior knowledge of the event. Her conduct has negatively affected our reputation as a brand. Consequently, we are taking all necessary legal steps towards ensuring that justice is seen to have been done in this matter.”
