Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, is said to be making plans to dump the Peoples Democratic Party for the African Democratic Congress.
This was contained in a report published by Daily Post on Monday. The paper claimed that the governor’s alleged plan was revealed to it by a chieftain of PDP in the state who would not want his name mentioned.
The PDP chieftain was said to have further disclosed that talks had already been opened with members of ADC in the state and the governor.
The governor’s move, which is said to be geared towards the 2023 general election, was as a result of leadership crisis in the PDP.
The PDP chieftain added that Munsurat Sunmonu, an ADC chieftain, is one of the persons holding forth for Makinde in ADC.
Buttressing his claims, the PDP chieftain said Makinde had already left the PDP WhatsApp group over disagreement between him and the party’s executive members in Oyo state.
The WhatsApp group was created by the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in the state, Engineer Akeem Olatunji.
“Makinde angrily left the WhatsApp platform at about 10pm on Saturday, after he had confronted Olatunji for posting a video on Fulani herdsmen attack on the people of Ayete, headquarters of Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State.”
Olatunji had in a video post on the WhatsApp group called on the governor to take urgent steps to save the people of Ayete from incessant attacks by Fulani herdsmen.
After the video went viral, Makinde was said to have in his reaction on Saturday said:
“Everytime some idiots make (sic) a video, the government must respond… I don’t get it really… you need mature people to make meaningful contributions on your platform.”
According to the chieftain, the governor exited the platform after the response.
