Five students and no fewer than six other people, including a commercial motorcyclist ,died in a road accident reportedly caused by a goat on Monday at Adeleye area along Ibadan-Iwo road, Oyo State.
It was gathered that properties worth millions of Naira were set ablaze by irate secondary school students protesting the death of their colleagues.
The victims were said to be students of Igi-Ito High School in Adeleye, Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Witnesses said the students were on their way to school when the accident occurred.
The witnesses said that the victims were on a motorcycle when suddenly a goat crossed the road and they rammed into it.
According to one of the eyewitnesses, “It’s unfortunate that the motorcyclist and the students fell after the goat ran into the road and they were crushed by incoming lorry and the claimed the victims life on the spot.”
The dead bodies were removed by the officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps and taken to the mortuary.
