Bribery Case: Kano court orders substituted service on APC’s Chairman Ganduje

The Kano State High Court has granted an order to serve the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, and other defendants in a high-profile bribery and corruption case through substituted means.

The case, which involves a 10-count charge against Ganduje, his wife Hafsat Umar, and several associates, alleges bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds amounting to billions of naira.

During the proceedings, counsel for the sixth respondent, Nureini Jimoh, challenged the appearance of the lead prosecution counsel, Yau Adamu, citing procedural concerns.

In response, Adamu, noting the challenge, delegated Barrister Zahradeen Kofar-Mata to move an ex parte application.

Kofar-Mata subsequently moved the ex parte motion, seeking to serve the respondents through substituted means by publishing summons in two national daily newspapers.

Despite objections raised by Jimoh, the court, presided over by Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu, granted the order, affirming the application made by Kofar-Mata on behalf of the lead prosecution counsel.

Justice Adamu-Aliyu further directed all parties involved to present their individual fiat to the court, ensuring transparency and adherence to legal procedures.

The matter has been adjourned until July 11 for further hearing, signaling the continuation of legal proceedings in this high-profile case.

This ruling marks a significant step in the ongoing legal battle, highlighting the judiciary’s commitment to ensuring fair and transparent proceedings.

As the case progresses, stakeholders await further developments and anticipate the pursuit of justice in the face of allegations of corruption and malfeasance.
