The wife of the Senior Pastor of Living Faith Church Worldwide aka Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, Faith has said that only women under demonic influence question men’s position in the family.
She made this comment in a post on her Facebook page on Friday. She was apparently backing her husband’s recent attack on feminism.
Oyedepo had during a recent sermon said “You may never have a good home if you join feminist club as a woman.”
Speaking further the clergy said that when the Bible says “submit yourself to your husband” it is in “everything.”
However, some women in the congregation chorused, “No, not today, that was before. Right now, nobody can do that. We are co-heirs, male and female, no difference.”
But continuing Oyedepo said women who failed to submit to their husbands think they know better than God for Him to lead them.
He said that when such women are told that “this is the way to go,” they would reply by saying, “No, let me educate you, God. You didn’t go to school, did you?”
“Right now, there is a feminine revolution. Then you get into feminine frustration and destiny devastation,” he added.
The preaching by the clergyman did not go down well with a feminist group, the Nigeria Feminist Forum, as members of the group slammed Oyedepo.
They asked Oyedepo whether feminism made the recently sacked pastors of his church to be “unproductive”.
“We need to ask the eminent cleric, did feminists and the coalition cause the unproductivity of his pastors, or the insecurity and high inflation that has enveloped the nation?” The feminist group asked.
But in her post this Friday, Faith, Oyedepo’s wife wrote: “Any woman or women’s organization that attempts to question the position of the man in the family should be regarded as being under a demonic influence.
“God expects that just as the Church is subject to Christ in everything, even so, women should be in subjection to their husbands in everything.”
