A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Femi Falana has said that the arrest of the Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Igboho, will be very difficult for the Federal Government.
Falana who spoke on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday, said the Federal Government’s inaction when some Northern Governors repatriated Almajiris back to their home states, has rendered them null to arrest Igboho.
According to the legal luminary, the government at the centre did not deem it necessary to arrest a Northerner who once asked the Igbos living in the North to quit, saying, “it is going to be difficult and inequitable to go for Sunday Igboho.”
Falana had earlier condemned Sunday Igboho, on the quit notice issued to the Fulanis in Oyo State, adding that the Oyo State government should be left, to fight against the insecurity in the state.
Speaking further, Falana said that President Muhammadu Buhari, has just said he’s not going to politicise the issue of security. But the security situation in the country is already politicised.
“We do not have the same standard. That’s why we run into problems. When governors, recently in some states in the North, forcefully removed Almajiris and deported them back to their States of Origin, nobody protested on their behalf.
“If you do not protect the interest of Almajiris, why will you protect the interest of herders in any part of the country? This is why we have to maintain the same standard at all times and operate under the rule of law,” Falana stated.
