Trolled for supporting Tinubu, Toyin Abraham vows to keep political views private

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi has pledged to keep her political views private going forward, following intense backlash on social media for openly supporting President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 elections.

Recall that the role interpreter had been vocal about her support for the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, even writing an open letter reaffirming her support after his inauguration as Nigeria’s president.

After receiving assurance of loyalty from Seyi, Tinubu’s son, on the 28th of May, 2024, the actress faced renewed criticism on the 3rd of june, 2024, prompting her to vow to keep her political inclinations private from now on.

“Maybe one day Toyin Abraham will divulge the plans Bola Tinubu shared with her to the public,” a social media user asked.

“I strongly believe we deserve to hear. Thank u”

@toyin_abraham1. “Of course, I was told and promised good governance and happiness for everyone and I believed.

“If things didn’t go well why do I have to be the one to suffer for it? Because I remember I voted for Jonathan and I was bullied but I didn’t blame anyone after everyone chose Buhari. So please why would they be cursing and trolling me every time?” Abraham said.

Furthermore, she was asked if she thinks her preferred candidate was struggling with governance.

Abraham, however, sidestepped the question, stating that she had learned a valuable lesson to keep her political affiliations private from now on.

By dodging the question, Abraham indicated that she was no longer willing to publicly critique or evaluate the performance of the candidate she supported, instead opting to keep her opinions to herself going forward.

“I have faced my life and career cos I am not a politician and I’m not in government, I have learnt my lesson never ever to be open with my choice again,” she wrote.
