Tinubu swears-in Akume as SGF

President Bola Tinubu administered the oath of office to Senator George Akume as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, was attended by various dignitaries including Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, former and current governors such as Tanko Almakura of Nasarawa State, and the outgoing SGF, Boss Mustapha.

Also present were Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, and Mrs. Regina Akume, the spouse of the new SGF.

Earlier, Tinubu had announced Akume’s appointment as the new SGF. In addition to this, the President appointed Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, as the Chief of Staff, and Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as the Deputy Chief of Staff.

These appointments were communicated through a statement issued by Abiodun Oladunjoye, the Director of Information at the State House in Abuja. The President made the announcement during a meeting with the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa.

Akume previously served as the Minister of Special Duties under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
