Tinubu renames Abuja road in honor of Chinua Achebe

In a surprising move, President Bola Tinubu has decided to rename the M18 road infrastructure in Guzape District, Abuja after the late Nigerian novelist and poet, Chinua Achebe.

During the inauguration ceremony on Saturday, June 8, Tinubu announced this decision, emphasizing the significance of honoring Achebe’s legacy.

In a statement by Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Olusegun Dada, it was revealed, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Commissions the M18 road infrastructure in Guzape District of Abuja. Names road after Nigerian Novelist and Poet, late Professor Chinua Achebe.”

Tinubu’s decision reflects a recognition of Achebe’s profound contributions to Nigerian literature and culture. It also serves as a symbolic gesture to commemorate Achebe’s enduring impact on the nation and beyond.

The renaming of the road signifies a meaningful intersection between literature, infrastructure, and national identity, as Tinubu aims to immortalize Achebe’s name in the physical landscape of the nation’s capital.
