…as Society’s President welcomes delegates, key speakers, others
President of the Parasitology and Public Health Society of Nigeria (PPSN), Prof. Sammy Olufemi Sam-Wobo, has welcomed all parasitologists, public health professionals, policy makers, other technocrats and political leaders to the 47th Annual Scientific Conference and the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the PPSN.
According to a statement by the PPSN president, the events will hold from the 10th to 14th October, 2023 at Grand Amari Hotels and Resort, Owerri, Imo State.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Global Control, Elimination and Eradication of Public Health Diseases- A Reflection”.
The statement listed the keynote speakers at the event as Dr. Garba Djimay Amadou of the World Health Organization (WHO), Geneva and Dr. Francisca Olamiju of Mission to Save the Helpless (MITOSATH).
This will be followed by Colloquium on the role of PPSN in Global Control, Elimination and Eradication of Public Health Diseases by Prof. Uche V. Amazigo fppsn & Prof. Luke Edungbola fppsn. The colloquium will be moderated by the President, Nigerian Academic of Science, Prof. Eka I. Braide OFR, FAS, fppsn.
The conference will also feature scientific technical sessions, annual general and business meeting, where records of the past year will be delivered; conferment of Fellowships on 15 distinguished members, and celebration of golden anniversary of PPSN (PPSN@50) during which the book that chronicles the activities PPSN and major players will be unveiled, alongside the cutting of the anniversary cake.
