Peter Obi joins Nollywood in farewell to icon Amaechi Muonagor

The late Nollywood veteran, Mr Amaechi Muonagor, was laid to rest on Friday at his hometown in Obosi, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The burial ceremony drew mourners from all walks of life, including political figures and entertainment industry stalwarts.

Among those present to bid farewell were Mr Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, and Mr Dom Onyenji, the State Commissioner for Culture, Tourism, and Entertainment.

They joined family members, relatives, and members of the Nollywood community in mourning the departed actor.

Mr Obi expressed deep sorrow over Muonagor’s passing and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

In his condolence speech, he urged them to find solace in prayer and seek God’s comfort for the soul of the deceased.

Commissioner Onyenji highlighted the significant role of Nollywood in showcasing creativity, emphasizing that Muonagor’s contributions as a creative personality were invaluable.

He affirmed the Anambra State government’s solidarity with Nollywood in mourning the loss of the industry legend.

The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mr Emeka Ejezie, represented by veteran actor Mr Steve Eboh, reassured the bereaved family of their support during this difficult time.

Ejezie described Muonagor as a great man and prayed for strength and solace for his family.

Mrs Chinyere Anyaegbunam, the state chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, echoed the sentiments of loss, describing Muonagor as a cherished figure within the industry.

She emphasized his role as a mentor to numerous actors, noting his influence and guidance in shaping careers in Nollywood.

The burial ceremony was a poignant moment of remembrance and tribute to Amaechi Muonagor, underscoring his enduring legacy and profound impact on Nigerian cinema.
