PennState University, USA visits FCE, Abeokuta, to collaborate on research, innovations, others

PennState University, Pennsylvania,USA, has collaborated with Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, on research for various courses of studies including innovations, creativity and other sciences.

Provost of the college, Dr. Rafiu Adekola Soyele upon his appointment identified the need for collaboration and linkage with other institutions and organizations within and outside the country.

Olowu of Owu, Oba (Prof) Saka Matemilola, who initiated the move as a Fellow of the institution, promised to help in the research through linkages.

A five-member team led by the Dean, Faculty of Education, PennState University, Pennsylvania ,USA, on Thursday May 30, 2024, visited the college to have first hand information on how they could collaborate with the college in various courses of study.

The team was warmly received by the provost, members of management, some deans and directors, in the provost office.

The provost, while welcoming the guests to the tertiary institution, briefed them on the college’s core mandate, discussing areas of mutual collaboration and cooperation including innovations, creativity, agriculture and the sciences.

Speaking, the Deans, School of Education, Dr. J.B. Filani; School of Early Childhood, Care and Adult Education, Dr. A.T. Ariba; School of Science, Dr. I.A. Mofikoya; Directors of Centre for Advancement and Linkages, Dr. K.R.Ojo and Centre for Innovation, Creativity and E- Learning, Dr. A.O. retreated the desire for a sound collaboration for exchange and research with PennState University, stating the reasons the college was suitable for such collaboration.

The registrar, Dr. G.A. Adebayo assured a sound registry that would take care of proper records of such relationships while the Librarian, Dr. C.E. Olaotan also used the occasion to talk about the readiness of the school library to collaborate through encouraging students to value reading culture for better understanding of the world.

In her own remarks, the leader of the delegation, Prof. Kilberly Lawless emphasized that knowledge was not static and they were in the institution to see how collaborating with the college could also help improve their university.

She highlighted their desires for a relationship that could help create a robust exchange between the two institutions while other members of her team also discussed individual expectations from the collaboration.
