Candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party in the Osun governorship election, Ademola Adeleke, has maintained an early lead.
As at early Sunday morning, Adeleke had secured victory in not less than seven LGAs, more than the four LGAs won so far by the All Progressives Congress’ candidate and incumbent Governor Adeboyega Oyetola.
Adeleke polled 21, 350 votes to win Olorunda LGA while Oyetola secured 18,709 votes.
Adeleke, popularly known as ‘dancing senator’ ganered 19,438 votes in Ede South while the incumbent governor had 5704.
The PDP candidate also polled 10,282 to win Orolu LGA where Oyetola got 9,928 votes.
In Osogbo, the state capital, Adeleke polled 30,401 votes, well ahead of the incumbent Governor and APC flag bearer, who got 22,952 votes.
Odo Otin LGA also fell into the hands of the main opposition PDP as Adeleke polled 14,003 votes while Oyetola got 13,482.
The PDP candidate won Ifelodun LGA, polling 17,107 votes while Oyetola trails him with 16,068 votes.
Adeleke also won Irepodun LGA with 14,369 votes while Oyetola got 12,122.
But Oyetola got Iwo LGA with 17, 421 votes compared to the 16,914 secured by Adeleke.
Oyetola also thrashed PDP’s Adeleke with 14,527 in Ayedade LGA. The PDP flagbearer got 13,380 votes.
Oyetola also emerged victorious in Boripe LGA, polling 21,205 votes to defeat the PDP candidate, Adeleke who had 7595.
The incumbent governor won Isokan LGA by a slim margin, polling 10,833 votes while Adeleke got 10,777.
