Ondo 2024: Southwest Govs, PDP leaders meet, back Akeredolu’s ex-deputy

Leaders of the People Democratic Party and other party stakeholders in the South-West on Monday, met and resolved to put their differences aside and build their house to ensure victory in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State.

The leaders took this decision at the end of a stakeholders’ meeting at the Presidential Lodge of the Oyo State Government House, Agodi, Ibadan.

They had earlier met behind closed doors for several hours.

Some of those in attendance at the meeting include Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Chief Bode George, the National Deputy Chairman (South), Ambassador Taofeeq Arapaja, former governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, former governor of Osun, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former governorship candidate of Ondo State, Eyitayo Jegede, the 2023 Ogun State governorship candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, among others.

The host, Governor Makinde, while speaking at the end of the meeting, said the gathering was to discuss the progress of the party and fashion out strategies to unify the party stakeholders before the Ondo State governorship election scheduled for November, this year.

Governor Makinde and his Osun State counterpart, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who addressed newsmen at the end of the meeting, stressed the unity of the party, saying this was paramount.

They expressed optimism that with the calibre and support of the party leaders in Southwest, PDP would come out victorious in the November election in Ondo state.

PDP governorship candidate in Ondo State in the November election, Agboola Ajayi, expressed appreciation on the coming together of the party leaders, saying that their unflinching support would be enough to secure victory for him in the November poll.
