Enzo Maresca takes over as Chelsea head coach

Chelsea has announced Enzo Maresca as their new head coach, replacing Mauricio Pochettino. The 44-year-old Italian joins from Leicester City, where he led the team to promotion by winning the Championship.

Maresca has signed a five-year contract, with the option to extend for another year. He was chosen over candidates like Brentford’s Thomas Frank, Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna, and Roberto De Zerbi, who recently left Brighton.

Chelsea’s co-sporting directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said, “We are excited to welcome Enzo to Chelsea. He has shown he can achieve great results with a clear style. His ambitions match ours, and we look forward to working with him.”

Maresca expressed his excitement, saying, “Joining Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, is a dream for any coach. I look forward to working with the talented players and staff here to continue the club’s success and make our fans proud.”

Maresca’s successful run with Leicester has raised expectations, and Chelsea fans are eager to see how he will lead the team.
