Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has re-echoed his administration’s zero tolerance for crime and criminality.
He noted that the state government would always partner with the security agencies to ensure the needed peace and security of the state.
Diri spoke on Thursday when he received the new Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Mobility Command, Yenagoa, Air Vice Marshal Iboro Harry Etukudo, in Government House, Yenagoa.
The reception had in attendance the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo; Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Abraham Ingobere; Chairman, House Committee on Security, Col. Benard Kenebai (rtd.); Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Konbowei Benson; Chief of Staff, Government House, Chief Benson Agadaga and other top government functionaries.
Diri stated that there had been a cordial working relationship between the military and the state government, which the Air Force was not an exception.
He expressed optimism that the coming of Etukudo would further keep the security and peace in the state.
Diri stated: “I like to, on behalf of the government and good people of Bayelsa State, welcome you and your entourage.
“The Air Force, before your coming, has been synergizing and partnering with other security agencies, and sometimes go beyond their own jurisdiction, if they discover that peace and security is threatened.
“And for me, that is a plus, and that is the commitment of the Air Force to make sure that Bayelsa is safe.
“As a government, we will continue to work with you, and we believe that working with you, will ensure the needed peace of the state and our policy as a government of zero tolerance for crime and criminality.”
