ODAHIEKWU OGUNDE, Yenagoa
Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has counselled Christians to take active part in politics of their states and the country.
Diri stated this on Sunday when he attended the combined mega service of the Assemblies of God in Yenagoa, the state capital, to mark the end of their three-day prayer meeting.
The governor said if Christians failed to participate in politics, they would be leaving the political space for unGodly people.
Diri was at the service with his wife, Dr. Gloria Diri.
He averred that the peace in the land shows that Bayelsa State has been dedicated to God.
He called on the church to continue to pray for the sustenance of peace in the state.
He appealed: “Continue to pray for my deputy and me for us to always do those things that will please God.
“For us as a government, we will continue to support the church.”
The combined mega service of the Assemblies of God, Nigeria, Bayelsa District, had the church’s General Superintendent, Rev. Ejikeme Ejim, in attendance.
