Democracy Day: Peter condemns gloating over Tinubu’s fall, says ‘it could happen to any of us’

In the aftermath of President Bola Tinubu’s slip during the Democracy Day parade, former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has voiced his disapproval of those reveling in the incident, reminding everyone of our shared humanity.

Expressing concern over the reaction to Tinubu’s stumble, Peter emphasized that such incidents could happen to anyone and shouldn’t be a cause for amusement.

He urged for empathy and understanding, highlighting the vulnerability inherent in being human.

“It’s disheartening to see people gloating over Tinubu’s fall. Let’s not forget, it could happen to any of us,” Peter remarked, urging for compassion and solidarity in the face of such occurrences.

Amidst the flurry of reactions to Tinubu’s slip, Peter’s message resonates as a reminder of the importance of empathy and mutual respect, especially during moments of vulnerability.

In a series of posts vis his official X handle on Wednesday, Obi wrote: “I was saddened to learn of President Tinubu’s unfortunate fall today. I wish him well. We achieve nothing by gloating about an accident that could well happen to any of us.

“We are all human beings, and, while we profoundly disagree on how to move Nigeria forward, we must remember our common human frailty. Let us stay focused on the issues that will lead to a new Nigeria.

“May this moment serve as a poignant reminder of our shared humanity and the need for compassion, empathy, and unity in our pursuit of a brighter future for our great nation.”
