In a scathing rebuke of Nyesom Wike, former presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has alleged disloyalty to the party and questioned the trustworthiness of the FCT Minister under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Momodu, a prominent publisher, did not mince his words as he accused Wike of attempting to undermine the PDP’s integrity by supporting Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2023 presidential election.
Despite his subsequent appointment as FCT Minister, Wike remains affiliated with the PDP, prompting calls for his sanction within the party.
“Wike feels he is fooling Tinubu and his people. But Tinubu’s people know him very well,” remarked Momodu during an interview on Tuesday’s edition of Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.
“There is no Nigerian today who does not know that Wike cannot be trusted in any matter, especially if it affects his interest in power. For him, power is everything. Money is everything.”
Despite efforts to reconcile Wike with the PDP, including appeals for his return to the party fold, such efforts have been futile. The fallout between Wike and the PDP resulted in the party’s loss in the presidential election in Rivers State to the APC.
Expressing his disappointment with Wike’s actions, Momodu emphasized, “What a man should know is that when you cut your nose, thinking you want to spit your face, you would look awkward.”
He further stated, “We have left him and we are watching him.”
Momodu’s stance remained firm as he advocated for decisive action against Wike within the PDP.
“We have left him and we are watching him,” he reiterated, emphasizing the need for the party to uphold its integrity by taking appropriate measures against those who betray its trust.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, the rift between Wike and the PDP underscores the complexities of power dynamics within Nigeria’s political arena.
