A Magistrate’s Court in Osogbo, Osun State, has remanded four suspected killers of a corps member, Adebayo Mukaila, in the police custody.
The suspects, Jelili Kareem, 29; Oludayo Oludele, 34; Awodeji Muyiwa, 36 and Anifowose Buliaminu, 35, committed the crime on January 28,2020 around Omo West area.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Akintunde Jacob, in his charge sheet, told the court that the first, second and third defendants robbed one Adebayo Mukaila, who was a member of the National Youth Service Corps, of recharge cards worth N300,000, cash of N2,500 and unlawfully shot him to death, while the fourth defendant unlawfully received recharge cards worth N300,000.
However, the fourth defendant pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of unlawful receipt of stolen materials brought against him by the police, while the pleas of other defendants were not taken.
The defence counsel, Mr. K.A Adepoju, prayed the court to grant bail to the fourth defendant, arguing that his offence was bailable.
Presiding Magistrate, Modupe Awodele, ordered the remand of the first, second and third defendants in police custody, but granted the fourth defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He also ordered that one of the sureties must be a civil servant.
The case was adjourned to July 13, 2020.
