Burna Boy achieves record for highest-grossing tour by African artist

Popular Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, fondly called Burna Boy, has achieved groundbreaking success in his recent tour.

The singer’s ‘I Told Them’ tour has set a new benchmark as the highest-grossing tour by an African artist, amassing $15.5 million from 15 shows, with revenue from an additional six concerts yet to be accounted for.

This milestone was however confirmed by Touring Data, a prominent American tour statistics company, in a series of posts on X on the 13th of June, 2024.

In addition to this record, Burna Boy also clinched the title for the highest-grossing arena concert by an African artist in the United States, generating $1.725 million at Capital One Arena in Washington on the 7th of march, 2024.

This achievement surpassed his own previous record set at TD Garden in Boston.

Furthermore, his performance at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood on the 12th of March, where tickets were priced at an average of $172.76, became the most expensive concert by an African artist in history.

Also, his Canadian tour proved highly successful, grossing $5.7 million from 6 shows, marking another milestone as the highest-grossing tour by an African artist in Canada.
