YABA College of Technology, Lagos, has shut down its medical centre as one of its workers died of COVID-19 complications.
The development, as gathered by First News, has led the institution to order the students to vacate the school’s hostels by Thursday.
The victim, simply identified as Omoighe, reportedly died from COVID-19 complications and was a staff of the Academic Planning Unit of the college.
In a memo issued by the Acting Registrar, Dr. S.O. Momodu, the school said both the Academic Planning Unit and the medical centre would remain shut for two weeks.
He also said steps would be taken to ensure that the college is decontaminated.
The college also urged the staff and students who had contact with the late worker to proceed on self-isolation or go for COVID test.
The staff of the school were also ordered to operate on a rotation so as to accommodate only 50 per cent members, adding that workers should adhere strictly to COIVID19 protocols.
