A right activist, Deji Adeyanju, has said that Nigerian governors are not safe from being kidnapped by the Bandits terrorising the country.
This warning came following the abduction of the Niger State Commissioner for Information, Mohammed Sani Idris by bandits in his home at Baban Tunga village in Tafa Local Government Area of the state.
Idris’ abduction was later confirmed by the state government in a statement by Mary Noel-Berje, the Chief Press Secretary to the state Governor, Sani Bello. He said that security agencies are on the trail of the assailants.
Recall that in Zamfara last week, a father of a House of Assembly Speaker, Nasiru Muazu Magarya, was kidnapped by bandits along with his stepmother, uncle and four others in Magarya village, Zurmi Local Government Area.
In a tweet addressing this issue, Adeyanju wrote: “Bandits have abducted Commissioner of Information of Niger State. Very soon, they may start kidnapping Governors and Senators.”
