National leader of All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has decried the ongoing security challenges in the country.
In a statement on Thursday, the former Lagos State governor said he was “angered and troubled” by the various attacks occurring in different parts of the country.
He lamented the terror and cruelty inflicted upon the people of Borno, Yobe, Benue, Niger, Imo and other parts of the nation.
Tinubu also regretted that the attacks are now directed at the Nigerian military and security forces, saying that the valiant men and women who serve in our security forces, risking their lives to protect us, were being targeted.
“We stand with them. The government also must continue to encourage the security forces to do their utmost to subdue this threat. The lives of innocent Nigerians and the future progress of the nation may lie in the balance.”
Tinubu, also expressed worries that the enemy’s attacks seem to focus on schools, religious institutions and security forces in order to extinguish the light of knowledge and hope.
He, however, advised Nigerians not to succumb to the situation, adding that citizens must unite at this trial time irrespective of tribe and religion.
