One of the houses belonging to a popular Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has been set ablaze by some suspected Fulani herdsmen.
FirstNews gathered that the house, which is located at the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State, was razed by fire at about 3am.
But the source of the fire could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
A video trending online, however, revealed, according to voices lamenting in its background, that the house was razed by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The video showed various apartments in the building with the personal belongings in them burnt to ashes.
An eye witness, who pleaded anonymity, told our correspondent that the fire was later put out by fire fighters and residents in the area.
Recently, Igboho, who is the Akoni Oodua of Yoruba land, had issued herdsmen in Igangan, Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State, to leave the area within seven days.
Last Friday, following the expiration of the ultimatum, Igboho and his supporters had stormed the Fulani settlement in the ancient town to eject Seriki Fulani, Salihu Abdukadir, and herdsmen accused of perpetrating crimes ranging from kidnappings, killings, rape to invasion of farmlands with their cattle.
Following Igboho’s visit to the Fulani settlement in Igangan, some houses and cars said to belong to the Seriki Fulani and his family were set ablaze.
The police authorities in the state could not be reached for comment as of press time.
