Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, on Tuesday, raised an alarm that some politicians have been after his life since he assumed the office.
Bawa spoke during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise daily.
According to him, what has befallen him was a true justification that corruption was fighting back at him.
“Last week, I was in New York, as all Nigerians are aware of. A very senior citizen received a phone call from somebody that is not even under investigation. What he (the caller) said to him on the phone is that; he is going to kill the EFCC chairman, the young man.
He said that the caller told the senior citizen, ‘I am going to kill him (Bawa). I am going to kill him’.
“This is to tell you how bad it is. It is actually real. Corruption can fight back,” he said, adding that he had received several death threats from people he did not know.
