Leaders of Synagogue Church of All Nations have appointed Mrs Evelyn Joshua, wife of the later founder of the church, TB Joshua as the new General Overseer of the church.
A report by a France-based AfricaNews said the decision came after the leaders met to ensure the church is guided by a new leader following the demise of Joshua on June 5 at 57 years.
Mrs Evelyn married TB Joshua 30 years ago and they both had three children.
Meanwhile, FirstNews learnt from one of the late prophet aides that Mrs Evelyn would henceforth be the new leader of the church.
“Someone must take charge immediately and give spiritual direction on the mode of service continuity. So much spiritual and financial effort went into building SCOAN and it cannot just waste away,” the aide said.
Mrs Evelyn had been an assistant to her husband before his death, assisting to preach and rendering counselling to the members.
Recall that SCOAN had announced that its founder would be buried at the church against the wish of TB Joshua’s kinsmen in Arigidi Akoko, Ondo State.
The weeklong event will take place from July 5 to 11.
A candlelight procession will be held on July 5, while a tribute service and service of songs/all-night praise will be held on July 6 and 7.
Joshua’s lying-in-state will be held on July 8, while the funeral and interment will follow on July 9. A thanksgiving service is scheduled for July 11. All services will be broadcast live on Emmanuel TV.
