Peoples Democratic Party on Monday advised President Muhammadu Buhari to consider recruiting more men into the military to save the country from the mess of insecurity.
The National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, said the current situation in the country is “not normal”.
He also implored the Buhari led government to consider establishing a National Border Protection Force to secure Nigeria’s borders.
He said the Force will include an integrated border protection system and draw personnel and equipment from existing security services.
According to him, the rate at which terrorists are infiltrating the country is worrisome, adding that the Force should have air, sea, and land capability.
Secondus condemned the spate of murder, kidnapping, terrorism and the attack on a correctional facility in Owerri, Imo State.
He said technology would help tackle security challenges and urged the government to put the Nigerian Communications Satellite to good use.
“Efforts should be made toward partnership with foreign governments and miscellaneous entities for the war efforts.
“The situation in our country is not normal and exceptional steps should be taken to restore it to normalcy”, Secondus said.
