Nigerians have taken to social media to react to the approval for Lekki tollgate reopening by the Judicial Panel of Inquiry set up by the Lagos State government.
The government had set up the panel to investigate the shooting of peaceful #EndSARS protesters in October 2020, at Lekki tollgate.
Commuters have been making use of the tollgate without paying any toll fee since the shooting.
However, the nine-man panel on Saturday returned the control of the tollgate to its operators, Lekki Concession Company.
Following the approval for the tollgate to be reopened, the #EndSARS protesters also known as ‘Soro-Soke’ generation are threatening to once again occupy the Lekki tollgate from 7am on Saturday February 13, 2021.
According to them, the tollgate must remain closed until justice is done for the victims of the October 20 shooting.
Popular activist, Omoyele Sowore, in a tweeted on his Twitter page wrote, “No to the reopening #Lekkitollgate the perpertrators of #LekkiMassacre must be brought to book @jidesanwoolu #Buratai must be brought before @intlcrimcourt #RevolutionNow #Buharimustgo.”
Bellow are other reactions trailing the Lekki tollgate reopening decision:
“Our justice system needs reform, our educational system needs reform, our lives must be valued, our roads need reform, our healthcare needs reform # revolutionNow.” @Empressni1.
“RevolutionNow is vibrant youth movement and I’m part of it for a Nigeria that work for all Nigerians.” @twisdon36.
“National security succeeds only when security agents are indoctrinated to think that the real enemies are #ENDSARS, #IPOB &3REVOLUTIONNOW, instead of BokoHaram, ISWAP, and Herdsmen terrorists foul.”@AloyEjimakor.
“Those that destroy our young protesters at Lekki cant appear before the panel because of conscience, the history will never forget the lawless military.” @ Ryemoja.
“We say no to reopening to Lekkitollgate! @Sorosokegen2020
“Our own live streaming cameras should be deployed in every corner of the toll gate to cover the eventualities and for the entire world to see.” @Nerolyta.
“No going back protest is our right”. @ onomeitohan
“ With blood of innocents on their hands its not the end.”@Oluaffiong.
The youths are ready to rekindle the protest fire for justice to the live loss during the EndSARS protest but the question, will the government let it live to see the light of the day.
