Following the directives given by President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has begun the move to save the All Progressives Congress from a looming disaster.
The Supreme Court judgment had faulted the chairmanship of the Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni. This had led to several warnings by legal experts that a congress conducted under the chairmanship of Buni may possibly cause the party a big problem in the future.
In what looks like a swift move to ameliorate the situation, Osinbajo on Monday met with governors and other stakeholders of the party to ruminate on how the party can escape any legal hammer in the future following the Supreme Court position of Buni as the chairman of the party.
It was gathered that, following the controversy, the vice-president and the governors had earlier on Friday held their first meeting.
It was also learnt that at the inaugural meeting, Osinbajo presided over a legal review of the judgment with lawyers who are members of the Federal Executive Council ahead of Saturday’s Ward congresses.
Meanwhile, some members of the party are said to have been in fear of what would happen to the party’s congress conducted last Saturday.
