A popular Nigerian human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration of collapsing the country’s democracy.
He made this remark while condemning the decision of the Department of State Service to take over the Federal High Court.
He claimed that the DSS refusal to allow lawyers gain access into the Federal High Court, Abuja shows that democracy has collapsed.
“The DSS taking over our court and stopping lawyers from gaining access shows democracy has collapsed in Nigeria and the Buhari’s refund have no regard for the judiciary,” said Adeyanju.
DSS operatives had prevented some lawyers from gaining access to the courtroom for the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Monday.
This development led to a shouting match between the lawyers and the police.
