While still savouring Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala’s appointment as the new Director General of the World Trade Organisation, Nigerians have kicked off a challenge on Twitter, #BELIKENGOZICHALLENGE, with women and girls dressing up like her to celebrate her new position.
She is the first woman and first African to occupy the director general post of the 164-member WTO.
Okojo-Iweala sounded assertive and confident in her acceptance speech as the new boss of the global trade organisation.
In the early hours of today, #BeLikeNgoziChallenge topped the trend on Twitter with 21k tweets.
Pictures of Nigerian ladies, particularly tying her headgear style with Nigerian fabrics, adorning her neck pearl and some spicing it all up a little more with her type of glasses frame, flooded social media. Some of them even did short clip videos to congratulate her.
Men too were not left out of the razzmatazz as many of them joined in the challenge to show their support for the girl-child and women aspiring to do more, rather then being intimidated by their success.
Women are being called out to joined the challenge to raise the bar in encouraging girl-child movement and aspiring to do more rather than engaging in those immoral challenges that encourage nudity like #SilhoutteChallenge.
