Kano State Hisbah Board on Tuesday said it had confiscated 8,400 bottles of beer in Dawakin Kudu and Kura Local Government Areas.
It also said that it arrested the driver of the vehicle transporting the goods from Zaria to Kano.
This was contained in a statement the board’s Commander-General, Dr Harun Ibn-Sina, made available to journalists in Kano State on Tuesday.
The statement read in part, “The vehicle was coming from Zaria to Kano when Hisbah officials arrested the driver.
“Hisbah Board has prohibited the sale of beer in the state to avoid being intoxicated.”
Ibn-Sina said that the suspects would be charged to court as soon investigation was concluded on the matter.
