Imudia family denies suicide claims in ex-Konga CEO’s death

The family of Nick Imudia, the former Chief Executive of e-commerce giant Konga and Group CEO of D.light International, has strongly denied reports suggesting that he committed suicide.

The family emphasized that investigations are ongoing and that suicide has been ruled out as the cause of his death.

Nick Imudia, who was based in Nairobi, Kenya, was on a short visit to Lagos, Nigeria, when the incident occurred.

In a statement signed by Dr. Anthony N. Imudia, the family expressed their dissatisfaction with the media’s handling of the news, describing it as unprofessional and hasty.

“The family of Nick Imudia is unhappy with the unprofessional manner the media has wrongly characterised the reporting of Nick Imudia’s death as suicide. This is also supported by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police’s office that has vowed to investigate the sudden death of Nick. Neither did Nick call his brother in America with instructions on how to distribute his wealth, nor placed a call to his daughter with any instructions,” the statement read.

The family questioned how the news of his death was reported within hours, even as they were still in the hospital attempting to resuscitate him. They emphasized that Nick never exhibited signs of stress or depression, and the swift media reports attributing his death to suicide are viewed with suspicion.

Nick Imudia was known for his vibrant personality and successful career. Before joining D.light International, he made significant contributions to Nokia and later served as the Managing Director of Nokia – West and Central Africa. He then became the CEO of Konga Nigeria, where he played a pivotal role in revitalizing the company.

“Nick was full of life and people that worked closely with him or met him in the last hours prior to the incident surrounding his death were shocked with the media attributing his death to ‘suicide’,” the family stated.

The Imudia family has called on the media and the public to respect their privacy and allow them to grieve without the spread of unfounded rumors about the circumstances of his death. They highlighted the need for a thorough investigation to uncover the true cause of Nick Imudia’s untimely demise.
