Twelve aides of a Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, on Wednesday instituted a rights enforcement suit against the Department of State Services (DSS) for parading them before the media as criminals.
The suit was filed before Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court who presided as a vacation judge while the court was in recess.
The aides in the suit contested that their detention beyond 48 hours and their media parade without a court conviction, had violated their fundamental rights.
They also sought a court order to stop DSS from intervening in their private lives.
The applicants also demanded the sum of N100million for damages and what they termed a serial breach of their constitutional rights.
