The governorship primary for the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), which was held in Abia State on May 29, 2022, has been declared invalid by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court of Abuja.
The judge then ruled that a new primary must be held within 14 days.
The decision was reached by Justice Nyako in a ruling on a lawsuit filed by Chikwe Udensi disputing Greg Ibe’s alleged victory in the APGA governorship primary.
The judge stated that the May 29 APGA governorship primary in Abia was “flawed and marred by irregularities” based on the facts and witness testimony.
Despite losing to Ibe in the APGA primary, Udensi went to court to contest the results. Udensi had specifically asked the court to proclaim him the winner of the APGA governorship primary or, failing that, to compel the holding of a new election.
