Nollywood actress and entrepreneur, Iyabo Ojo, has dragged Yomi Fabiyi to court over an alleged defamatory statement.
The actress wants Fabiyi to apologise and pay her N100 million as damages for the alleged defamation.
Recall that Fabiyi led a protest on Wednesday to demand for the release of his colleague, Baba Ijesha, who was arrested and had remained in police custody for alleged molestation of a child. He was said to have during the protest, claimed that Iyabo and the foster mother of the molested child, Comedian Princess, had plans of killing Baba Ijesha if granted bail.
In a post on her Instagram page later on Wednesday, May 12, Iyabo Ojo shared copies of the defamation suit she filed against Fabiyi.
The lawsuit was filed by The Maverick Forte Legal, it was said that Fabiyi made some defamatory words which were written on placards during the protest he led.
The legal firm quoted some of the inscriptions of the placards being considered as defamatory to read, “Nigeria Police please allow the law to dictate to you not Iyabo Ojo, Princess and co. Please release Baba Ijesha.”
“Iyabo Ojo and Princess promised to kill Baba Ijesha if released on bail in this era??”
Iyabo’s legal team demanded that Fabiyi apologised in person or on social media, most especially on Instagram within fourteen days, And also pay “one hundred million naira as damages for the unjustifiable injury and losses occasioned by our client caused by your defamatory publication.”
Fabiyi has been supporting Baba Ijesha, ever since he was arrested for alleged child molestation and has been demanding for his release.
