President Muhammadu Buhari says he’s committed to the emergence of credible candidates in the 2023 general elections.
Buhari also expressed his determination to ensuring peaceful and fair elections next year.
He stated this on Thursday when an All Progressives Congress aspirant for the Kano Central Senatorial District seat, Senator Basheer Lado, visited him at the Aso Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Lado met with President Buhari a day before the APC senatorial primary elections holding on Friday, May 27, 2022.
The former lawmaker, who is also the Lado the immediate past Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, had told newsmen covering the State House shortly after his meeting with President Buhari, “As you are aware, Kano State is the largest producer of votes in Nigeria.
“It is the decider of who becomes the next president in the presidential election.
“Just like my Governor, HE Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has done in the past, I respectfully informed and reassured Mr President that the APC is still the party to beat in Kano despite recent defections.”
Senator Lado disclosed that the President expressed his commitment to credible 2023 elections that would produce candidates with integrity.
“After my briefing, Mr. President reiterated his commitment to credible and peaceful elections and also his desire to see candidates with integrity prevail at the polls all across Nigeria,” he added.
