ARABAMBI ABAYOMI
I believe very much strongly beyond all and every doubt that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has paid his dues in every way, on any scale and in any measure politically to make him highly qualified to seek to lead this country in the capacity of Mr President.
Yes, as a proven competent and true highly ranked politician, he is a fit for Presidential Material. However, on the debit side is his suspected level of health challenges.
It is incontestable that the office of Mr President is one that demands that the occupant should be 110 per cent fit and healthy beyond suspicion in any degree.
Meanwhile, one is also wondering about the unintentional consequences of this his aspiration for the APC as a political party, if certain areas of his past manipulative leadership is put into the equation.
Politics in Nigeria, as usual, has been redefined by Tinubu one more time that the voters are in the opinion of some visible leaders inconsequential and secondary in electoral process and even in the election proper.
I am reluctant to go further in trying to express opinions over some political possibilities and unintended electoral complexities shrouded in this aspiration of Alhaji Senator Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for APC in very many states across the nation.
In politics, the ability to provoke future potentials is rooted in acquired strength in the past because no matter who one is, his past drives his present.
Surprisingly, it has come to the public space that Tinubu has officially and publicly announced personally that he had informed the President that he will be contesting for the office of the President, thus succeeding the incumbent even as the electorate across Nigeria are formerly left out.
Of course, politics in Nigeria, as usual, has been redefined by Tinubu one more time that the voters are in the opinion of some visible leaders inconsequential and secondary in electoral process and even in the election proper.
The President as the symbol of the party platform that Tinubu hopes to contest on surely deserves upfront notice but that process should not be used to insult the intelligence of the electorate. It would have been smoother to get the President informed quietly and thereafter formerly announce publicly, like the first to be informed and not as it is done today to embarrass the electorate.
Finally, I wish the Asiwaju every luck in his ambition through APC internal elections.
We in Labour Party are confidently and hopefully looking forward to the 2023 Presidential Election victory.
