No fewer than 40 residents have been killed by unknown gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in a fresh attack in the Odugbeho community in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.
It was gathered that the unknown gunmen stormed the community on Sunday night, killing residents and injuring scores.
The state police said it was yet to receive a report of the attack from that area.
According to the Benue state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Anene Sewuese Catharine, “I am yet to receive that report”.
Reacting to the incident, the Senator Representing the Benue South Senatorial District, Senator Abah Moro, condemned in a statement posted on his official Facebook page, the attack on his constituency.
Moro decried the incessant killings in the area, saying enough is enough.
“I’m deeply saddened by the attack on Odugbeho community in Agatu LGA on Sunday, which claimed over 40 lives in my constituents. This is highly condemnable and very unacceptable. For how long will this carnage continue unabated in Benue South? Enough should be enough,” he said.
