Omoyele Sowore, the #BuhariMustGo activist has been arrested at the Federal High Court Abuja as the court resumed the trial of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
FirstNews gathered that security agents picked Sowore up as he staged a protest in solidarity with the Kanu. It was further learnt that he was doing a Facebook Live session when he was picked up Monday morning.
Kanu, who was earlier extradited into Nigeria from Kenya, is facing terrorism-related charges before Justice Binta Nyako.
Journalists at the entrance to the court were barred by DSS officers from entering the court on the ground that they were not accredited to cover the trial.
The accredited media organisations are Daily Post, ThisDay, Premium Times, The Nation, Daily Independent, The Herald, National Television Authority, Television Continental, African Independent Television and Channels Television.
No reason was given why only 10 media houses were allowed from covering the trial.
Meanwhile, Sowore and others arrested at the Federal High Court, Abuja, were later released few hours after their arrest.
Announcing his release, Sowore said, “They have just released us. They dragged, harassed and beat us. They took us to the Federal Secretariat Police Station. I told them that they have no right to arrest me.
“I have a right to observe the trial of Nnamdi Kanu. They took our cards and deleted all recordings.”
