Women often have to go the extra mile to be recognised in almost all the industries they find themselves unlike their male counterparts.
Talented Nigerian music star Simisola Ogunleye Kosoko known as Simi, recently shared this thought and gave a piece of advice to her female folks.
We all know that the entertainment industry is competitive everywhere including in Nigeria. We have a lot of male gender that are into music and few female counterparts.
Many of them are doing great in their different genres, hip-hop, afrobeats, R&B, etc. However, the female artists appear to face a more daunting task to measure up.
Speaking on this during a recent interview on TVC’s ‘Your view’, Simi, lamented the situation, women in almost all the industries they find themselves in the world, literally have to do double or triple work to get half of the result men get.
“It is something that has been happening for so long, it has beaten some people down and sometimes they find it difficult to rise,” she said.
“Women are expected to look in a certain way, sexy and attractive while the male gender can look anyhow. You hear a lot of demeaning things as a woman.
“Women are really trying, to be a woman and a musician is difficult and stressful,” the beautiful artist said.
On some of the challenges females in the entertainment industry face, she mentioned the ability to balance their homes, most especially the married ones,
Simi advised women to have the ability to prioritize the things they do, adding that “women should stay true to themselves.”
