Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Tuesday received seven members of the Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees in his state.
The BoT members arrived for a meeting with Wike at Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt, Tuesday morning.
They are Tanimu Turaki, Ibrahim Idris, Shuaib Oyedokun, Zainab Maina, Esther Uduehi, and Acting Chairman of the Board of Trustees Adolphus Wabara.
Some BoT members from Rivers State and other party state leaders attend the meeting with the visiting BoT members.
Desmond Akawor, the state PDP chairman, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Chibudom Nwuche, Ferdinand Anabraba, the chairman of the Rivers PDP Elders Council and a member of the BoT, Adawari Pepple, the former Chief Whip of the Senate, Emeka Woke, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Rivers State, elder statesman, Sam-Sam Jaja, Emma Anyan were at the meeting.
Wike asked the BoT members to allow journalists to cover the meeting before it started in order to prevent the presentation of inaccurate information.
The meeting was ongoing when this report was filed for publication.
According to Wike, since the PDP crisis started, his conversations and the outcomes of his talks with PDP stakeholders have consistently been misconstrued and misrepresented.
He did, however, give in to Wabara’s suggestion that the meeting be done in secret and that journalists be briefed afterwards.
On September 20, Wike and his allies declared that they were leaving Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign.
They also skipped the September 28, 2022, inauguration of Atiku’s campaign council on the grounds that northerners shouldn’t hold the party’s top two positions.
