Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi said the embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus was to naïve of events in the PDP.
Umahi said he was aware of the impending removal of Secondus before he left the PDP.
Recall that there have been multiple court judgments both barring and reinstating Secondus as PDP’s national chairman.
His woes were, however, compounded on Tuesday when the executive committee of the PDP Ward 5 in Ikuru, Andoni LGA of Rivers State, suspended him as a member of the party.
Speaking on Secondus’ travails during an interview on Channels Television on Friday, Umahi said: “I won’t say I’m happy with what is happening to the chairman because he was a bit naive.
“When I was leaving, I told them — do two things. I was told that the working committee, especially Secondus, was going to be unduly removed to give one man or two the leverage of owning the PDP. I said that should not happen. I told Secondus and all the working committee when they visited me in Abuja.
“And the second one was — cede the presidency to the South-east and we will all be together. But they did not. I think it is the will of God to be where I am and I’m very happy.
Umahi recently defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
