Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player in European Championship Finals history to score 10+ goals in the competition, overtaking Michel Platini’s record of nine all scored in the 1984 edition.
Ronaldo has now scored 106 international goals, after his brace against Hungary, in front of more than 60,000 fans at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, his injury-time goal made it his 11th goal at Euros championship to seal the victory for the defending Champions, as he went around goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi to score his second goal of the night.
The Portuguese became the first player to appear at five men’s European Championships, as he played against Hungary on Tuesday, and also became the tournament’s record goal-scorer, after he converted an 87th-minute penalty to overtake Michel Platini’s mark of nine European Championship goals.
